Step 1 - Go to a store without any research.
Step 2 - Tell your budget.
Step 3 - Blindly buy the television that the salesman suggests.
Step 4 - Regret.
Step 5 - Regret more.
Sad but true, we don't do a lot of research before buying a television and end up buying overpriced, obsolete televisions. We don't think of future possibilities/ technologies and regret later. There's no rocket science involved, there're just a few points to keep in mind before you go ahead and buy the television.
Wait! We have done the research for you, we have prepared a small guide to help you get the best value for your money.
This is the most important part of the television. The most affordable option available is LED-LCD TV, so if you are on a tight budget, this technology is something you need to consider.
Next, we have QLED TVs, this technology uses special kinds of semiconductors called the quantum dots. This has better color reproduction and high brightness.
If you want the latest technology and splendid experience, go for OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TVs. This technology excels in almost all the departments, it is the best you can currently get. The colors and brightness that this screen produces are of unmatchable quality.
The Screen Resolution
The widely available options are HD (720p), Full HD (1080p) and 4K (2160p). The higher resolution you go for, the sharper picture you get. Even if you are on a tight budget, you should go for at least a Full HD panel, since 1080p would very soon become a basic necessity. If you want greater details and stunning display, go for a 4K panel.
The Smart TVs
If you’ve heard people watching web series on their TV or stream Youtube on their TV, they are able to do so because of the smart TVs. Smart TVs are like smartphones, they now have operating systems like Android and you can do pretty much everything you can do on your smartphone (entertainment stuff). You can stream videos and web series on Netflix, Alt Balaji, Youtube, Zee5, Amazon Prime, etc. and even browse internet on a smart TV. These TVs have gained wide popularity and are certainly something that would sustain in the future. These also come with features like mirror screening.
Try to go for the least bezels you can, make sure the TV you are buying has all the required ports as per your need (especially HDMI 2.0 and USB).
Try to go for TVs with android operating system (if you can afford) as most of the smart TVs are actually not `smart’ (the ones which have their own ecosystem and a handful number of applications available).
Audio plays a very important role in getting a great entertainment experience, but TVs cannot solely provide that, you would have to invest in a sound bar to get great results, so plan your budget accordingly.
Try to go for as much higher refresh rate as possible (at least 60Hz is recommended).
